Features of the Agilent Microarray Platform:

Agilent microarrays are manufactured with high-performance SurePrint Technology™. The arrays are manufactured using a non-contact in situ synthesis process of printing 40-60-mer length oligonucleotide probes directly onto the arrays, base-by-base, from digital sequence files.

microRNA

Agilent has developed a microarray-based application for studying microRNAs (miRNAs) that combines a unique miRNA direct labeling method with an innovative probe design and established high-performance SurePrint inkjet synthesis technology. The creation of complete miRNA expression profiles using robust and highly sensitive microarrays allows to gain broad insight into human, mouse, or rat miRNA expression and regulation. This capability offers a unique opportunity to develop a confident and clear picture of the intricate expression networks and systems that impact your genomics research.

General specifications of the Agilent miRNA microarrays:

  • 8-plex format (8 arrays per slide)
  • 60-mer probe length
  • 16-20 replicate features per miRNA
  • current Sanger miRBase content for human, mouse, or rat
  • direct end-labeling of total RNA using Cyanine 3 pCp

aCGH

Microarray-based Comparative Genomic Hybridization (aCGH) is a powerful technique used to identify and characterize DNA copy number variations (CNV) across the genome. Agilent’s oligonucleotide aCGH platform is an integrated solution that gives you the resolution and flexibility to perform genome-wide as well as customized zoom-in profiling of genomic aberrations on a single chip, along with simplified experimental design and ease-of-use protocols to handle genomic samples with full complexity. The Agilent CGH platform consists of flexible multi-pack formats for both catalog and custom arrays and enables copy number analysis of most sample types, including FFPE, using the robust DNA Analytics analysis tool. The quality, flexibility, and complete workflow combine to make Agilent CGH microarrays the highest performing copy number solution.

General specifications of the Agilent aCGH microarrays:

  • several flexible formats
  • 60-mer probe length
  • 1000 Replicated Biological Features (X3)
  • currently available for human, mouse, or rat
  • feature size ~65 microns

Quality Control

No matter how robust the downstream processes, good data is dependent on sample quality. Consequently, accurate measurement of sample quality is essential before deciding if a sample merits further analysis. All samples prepared by Asuragen Services are routinely qualified. Due to the partially degraded nature of nucleic acids from FFPE tissues, special quality control measurements are used.

Yield:

Nucleic acid yield is primarily dependent on the tissue type and mass (or volume) but is often affected by disease status, chemical treatment, media, preservatives, and tissue handling.

Integrity:

RNA integrity is dependent on a wide range of factors in the precise handling of biological materials from collection to RNA isolation. Although DNA is routinely stable in most sample types, formalin fixation does lead to partial DNA degradation in FFPE samples. For this reason, Asuragen offers a wide variety of services compatible with RNA and DNA from FFPE.

Asuragen’s rigorous procedures enable Asuragen to be the only service provider to offer a Data Quality Guarantee.

If, for any reason, a qualified sample does not pass our process control specifications, we will re-run the sample at no additional charge.

Sample Handling and Processing

All samples are received and entered into the analysis queue under a controlled SOP to confirm package/sample integrity, appropriate shipping conditions (frozen samples/dry ice, as appropriate), and individual confirmation of sample identity against the shipping manifest and sample submission form and instructions.

Turn-around Time

Typical turn-around time is one to two weeks. If you have a critical time requirement, we can often meet your need for no additional charge. Read more about our commitment to prompt turn-around times.
